Stool Tests

Stool analysis to detect infections and digestive problems, in Spanish.

  • Stool analysis
  • Detection of parasites and infections
  • Digestive symptom evaluation
  • Results explained in Spanish

Diarrhea that will not stop, stomach pain, gas or blood in the stool are uncomfortable to talk about but important to check. A stool test helps find parasites, infections or hidden bleeding. At Clínica Hispana Mangum we give you the container and instructions to collect the sample at home.

What can it detect?

  • Parasites such as giardia or amoebas, common after travel or from contaminated water or food.
  • Bacteria that cause infectious diarrhea.
  • Hidden blood, not visible to the eye, which can come from hemorrhoids, ulcers or colon polyps.

When should I get tested?

  • Diarrhea lasting more than 3 days, or with fever or mucus.
  • Recurring abdominal pain or gas.
  • Unexplained weight loss or fatigue with anemia.
  • A check after travel or if several people at home have symptoms.

How to collect the sample

  1. Urinate first so urine does not mix with the stool.
  2. Catch the stool on plastic wrap or a clean container, not from the toilet water.
  3. Transfer a portion to the vial with the scoop, without overfilling, and close it tightly.
  4. Write your name and the date and time.
  5. Bring it to the clinic the same day, following the container instructions.

Colon cancer screening

If you are 45 or older, ask about the yearly fecal immunochemical test (FIT), one of the options the USPSTF recommends for adults aged 45 to 75.
