A late period brings lots of questions. Confirming a pregnancy with health staff gives you a clear result and, above all, guidance on what comes next, whether or not you were planning it. At Clínica Hispana Mangum the test is done with no appointment and full privacy.

When should I test?

• Urine test: reliable from the first day of a missed period. If it is negative and your period still does not come, repeat it in a week.
• Blood test: detects the pregnancy hormone earlier and at lower levels; useful when in doubt or for follow-up.

What if it is positive?

1. The medical team confirms the result and estimates the weeks from your last period.
2. We review your medications and whether you already take folic acid (400 micrograms a day).
3. We guide you to start prenatal care as soon as possible; if needed, with an ultrasound.

What if it is negative?

If your period still does not come, stress, weight changes, thyroid problems or polycystic ovary syndrome may be involved. A visit to look for the cause is worthwhile.

Warning signs in early pregnancy

Severe pain on one side of the abdomen, heavy bleeding, dizziness or fainting can mean a pregnancy outside the uterus. It is an emergency: go to the emergency room or call 911.
